Breast Cancer Symptoms For Early Detection

by Stephan Grindley

It is imperative that women of all ages stay up to date with breast cancer symptoms and what responses are available should they be diagnosed, due to the fact that women both young and old are susceptible. However, since there are many symptoms which may point to breast cancer, you should check with your doctor for confirmation as they will be able to give you an informed opinion. Should you believe yourself to have the following breast cancer symptoms, you would be well advised to visit your doctor as soon as possible.

The first symptom of breast cancer is generally a lump. The lump doesn't feel the same as the other skin around it. Since this is the first indication of breast cancer it is significant to have the ritual of performing a regular self exam. This can mean a lot to you for early discovery. You need to have frequent mammograms. The sooner you find out you the better your chances are of surviving this horrible disease.

There are several other breast cancer signs to be aware of, other than a lump. If your breast changes size or shape this is something to take note of and inform your doctor of right away. You might also have some dimpling of the skin on your breast. If your nipples become inverted or you have discharge from a single nipple, these are other things you should keep your doctor informed of.

Paget's disease in your breast could suggest that you have breast cancer. Redness and flakiness on your nipple are the changes you will notice on your breast. As it progresses you may have symptoms like itching on the skin of your breast, feel more sensitive than you normally do, and experience burning and pain. As you always do, it is crucial to tell your doctor if you believe that you might be afflicted with this disease.

Occasionally, various symptoms such as rapid loss of weight which cannot be attributed to any other visible cause, and persistent unexplained fever and chills can be indicators of breast cancer. Other signs may include disparate neurological symptoms, bone or joint pain or even jaundice, so it pays to be attentive of these.

Please remember that the majority of medical breast problems are not related to cancer. Although you should never ignore breast issues, you do not to be overly worried. Go to a doctor and get a complete examination. Then you will know for sure what your problem is. In most cases there is nothing critical to worry about. You will be able to set your mind at ease.
